Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ’s Department of Art and Design is planning a “Pottery Palooza” for children ages 10 to 18. The two-week winter ceramics workshop will take place on December 10, 12, 17, and 19, with each session running from 6 to 8 p.m.
The cost to register is $30, covering all supplies needed for the workshop. To ensure accessibility, Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà is offering waivers for children from low-income households.
Pottery Palooza will be led by Travis Erxleben, Áù¾ÅÉ«Ìà Assistant Professor of Art and Design, and assisted by Art Education students from Áù¾ÅÉ«ÌÃ’s Teacher Education program.
Erxleben said the event will provide mentorship for local youth and hands-on experience for aspiring educators. “These evening classes offer an accessible and engaging schedule for participants to explore pottery techniques and complete their own projects,” Erxleben said.
Erxleben hopes to expand the program in future years to include additional age groups and programming for adults and individuals with special needs.
