The “Spirit of the Stadium,” the Bulldog Marching Band primarily performs at pregame and halftime for home varsity football games. One of the more exciting small-college marching bands in the land, the ɫ Bulldog Marching Band welcomes all members with previous music experience. Drumline, color guard and twirling teams have a limited amount of additional rehearsal time. We take great pride in presenting high-quality shows that display our strong brass and woodwind sections, drumline, and visual teams. The band also features an outstanding color guard and award-winning twirling teams. In addition to football field shows, the BMB performs for the Swanton Corn Festival Parade, the AC Homecoming Parade, and the Lenawee County High School Marching Band Exhibition in early October, as well as other exhibitions during the season.
Concert band rehearsals begin in early November when football season ends and runs the entirety of the Spring Semester. Students who choose to participate in the Concert Band agree to invest the necessary practice time outside of rehearsal to prepare challenging literature selected for performance. Past programmed works include Robert W. Smith’sDivine Comedy Symphony,Johan de Meij’sLord of the RingsSymphony, Whitacre’sGodzilla Eats Las Vegas, Vaughn Williams’Folk Song Suite,DZ’sFirst and Second Suites for Military Band, Nelhybel’sTrittico, and Grainger’sLincolnshire Posy, as well as other works by Hazo, Maslanka, Higdon, and Omar Thomas.
Our pep band is the busiest performance group on campus, lending support to 30 or more hockey and basketball games each year. This mostly student-run, highly energetic band takes pride in contributing to the success of our teams while playing great music.
